So, a family member had the gall to suggest that Phoebe was receiving too much press on IG.
That’s not true AT ALL, but to keep the peace, here’s a pic of Scout. I love this new camera, and as you can see, I’m having fun editing too.
I’ve been sick this weekend, but I can take photos from the sofa and edit away. It’s better than TV :)

Soooo, as if I don’t have enough creative outlets, I decided to get a good camera.
The girls and I walk every morning now, and I so often see gorgeous scenes or wildlife I just can’t do justice to with my phone. There’s a night heron suddenly hanging out at the pond I would love to capture in the dawn light.
And…the girls are well into their adulting years. I’d love to do a better job of capturing their personalities with a “real” camera.
I’m not familiar with all that goes into a full-on camera - but it’s fun to learn and it’s good for my brain :).
Do any of you have an actual camera? What editing software do you use?

There’s a stark divide between a dog understanding what we want and a dog actually doing what we want.
It’s a dog’s understanding that correlates to intelligence. It’s not the performance of any particular task.
And too many so-called “intelligence tests” for dogs look only at a pup’s obedience. But, I’d argue that to a great extent, just like with our kids, the working intelligence of our dogs depends on us: do we provide the socialization, the teaching, and the motivation to help them succeed, and be happy, in our world?
Downward Sizing Dog, Chapter 4–Small Dogs Are Smart ...
I just received the best email. A reader wrote to share that he is 80 and his wife is 70. They’ve had large dogs their entire married life.
But they’ve been without a dog for a while. Their last pup was only 55 pounds, but in her last illness the husband could barely lift her to get her to the vet. It’s such a scary and sobering thing to face- the idea that perhaps the big dogs you thought would be part of your life forever really can’t be.
So many people in their 7th and 8th decades think they need to stop having dogs. Please don’t let your friends and family think that way—we need the love and support of dogs more than ever as we age. This couple read my book and wrote to let me know it made them realize they could go small and be very happy. I’m so excited for them.
So is Phoebe. Though she’s playing it cool, as usual.
